Langland affirms commitment to its people with dedicated new hire
London, UK, 17 February 2022: Langland today announced that Julia Kirby has joined its team in a newly created position as Director, Internal Engagement and Culture. It affirms the agency’s commitment to its people – prioritising internal and cultural initiatives to ensure everyone at Langland feels supported to be themselves, to thrive, and to forge a career path within the agency.
“I’m so pleased to welcome Julia back to the team and into this new role. Culture is one of the main drivers when people choose an agency; bringing in Julia as Director, Internal Engagement and Culture is us walking the walk and firmly placing our people at the heart of everything we do,” comments Victoria Wright, Group Managing Director, Langland. “As we all get to grips with hybrid working, building a culture that spans office locations and homes will be critical and I am especially looking forward to the leadership Julia will bring in guiding the way for us all – making sure Langland continues to be one of the best places to work, as well as the place where people do the best work of their careers.”
In her role, Kirby will support Wright with the planning, development and refinement of numerous agency initiatives which firmly place workplace culture front and centre at Langland – both internally, but also reflected in the way the agency engages and works with client partners. Employee retention continues to be an industry-wide challenge and Langland wants to forge a people-first model that shows every employee a path to individual success via their extensive ‘Langland Life’ programme, whilst belonging to an agency full of opportunity, that has purpose and integrity. Measures of success will initially include employee retention and satisfaction scores, but expand to include other performance indicators examining the depth, breadth and quality of the work a stronger culture can deliver for its clients.
Kirby had to say of the move, “A strong culture isn’t just created overnight. It is built over time. The Langland Senior Leadership Team has already laid solid foundations with the values they have determined, and now we have to make sure we continue to hold ourselves to those values each and every day – both in the way we interact with each other, and also in the way we show up with our clients. I am delighted to be working with Vic again to make this happen, but I recognise I won’t be doing this alone. Our people will lay the bricks that strengthen our culture and I believe we can all be leaders of the change, and have some fun along the way. In the meantime, I can’t wait to get my feet back under the table and join Langland for its next exciting chapter.”
The appointment of Julia follows Langland’s recent announcement that Drew Owen, Chief Scientific Officer, has assumed the position of DEI Lead Champion for the Publicis Groupe UK Health Practice – further solidifying the agency’s people-first ethos.
